  2.   There is a death record in Lincoln for Elisha Child 29 Aug 1765. All secondary sources seem to attribute a son Elisha b. 1770 to this family, belying this death date. The birth record of son Elisha does not name parents, and is recorded in Waltham, and not Lincoln, so one must assume there is some unmentioned information that supports this attribution by the various secondary sources. It doesn't help engender any confidence that the secondary sources apparently misread the birth record of Sarah into two daughters (original per Lincoln VRs: 18 May 1763, duplicate 17 May 1763; interpreted by Bond and Child Genealogy as 18 May 1763 and a second daughter 17 May 1764).

According to NEHGS index of Middlesex Probate, there are two probate files for Elisha Child of Lincoln in 1765 (files 4393 and 4395), that probably need to be investigated to explain this situation. It seems likely that these files are the death of the father, and guardianship of the son. This would suggest that Elisha had a son Elisha, but that he was born before 1765. To support this, the son's probable widow Abigail, d. 1827, age 73, so born about 1754. One would assume her husband was not born too far from this date.
