- ↑ This date is widely given as Dec 1673 but after investigating all of Torrey's sources and other places, no basis for that has been found. An old source, Source:Jackson, Francis. History of the Early Settlement of Newton, County of Middlesex, Massachusetts, from 1639 to 1800, p. 327, says "Dec. 1693", which is clearly wrong since their first child was born 1675 and they signed an agreement of heirs in Dec 1675 (which may be what was intended?). It is suspected that Dec. 1673 is an attempt to correct Jackson's erroneous data, but given that his date is clearly wrong, why that should be considered authoritative without a basis is unknown.
