Notes for ADAM MCCOOL: Familysearch claims Adam McCool's wife was Jane Rhine. Others point to Jean Love as his wife, and others claim that he was married to both Jean Love and also her sister Mary Love. More research may be necessary to determine which is correct.

This Adam McCool was b. ca 1720, md. ca 1749 to (1)Jean Love and (2)Mary Love, (sister to Jean). Adam was bro to Thomas McCool 1730-1767 whose Will probated in Balt. MD, and bro to Andrew of VA. Adam d. Chester Co., SC. Will Bk A. Dtd. 7/1800. Children: Joseph b ca 1754 md. Mary Thomas; Mary b. 1756 md. Mr. Bell; John b. 12 Dec 1757 md. Jane Love; Adam Jr b. 1758? md. The only child I have listed for Adam McCool (1758-bef 1825) and Margaret is dau. Jane McCool, b. 27 June 1786, Union Co., SC, md. abt. 1801 to Thomas McCluney, probably in Union Co. Death date for Jane is March 8, 1855. Believe Margaret McCool's maiden name might have been Johnson. On Nov. 14, 1825, widow Margaret McCool borrowed $1,000 from Joseph Brown and co-signers were James Johnson and James Love. The 1800 census of Chester Co., SC pg. 85, listed head of household Margaret McCool 26-45; 1 male 10-16; 1 male 26-45; 3 females under 10; 2 females 10-16. 1810 Census, Chester Co., SC, pg. 276 shows Marget McCool head of household 45&over; 1 male 16-26; 2 females 10-16; 2 females 16-26.
