WeRelate is a free public-service wiki for genealogy sponsored by the Foundation for On-Line Genealogy in partnership with the Allen County Public Library. We are the world's largest genealogy wiki with pages for over 2,000,000 people and families and growing.

WeRelate is currently in beta. It is supported by volunteers and your tax-deductible donations.

Take a short helicopter tour and see what WeRelate can do. Then watch the tutorial videos to see how it's done.
It takes only a minute, and it's free! We will never charge to access WeRelate.
Part encyclopedia, part social network, WeRelate does more than most shared-genealogy websites. Find out.

JBS66

JBS66 has been doing genealogy for 10 years. She is working on Brien, Smereczanski, and Swart family lines.

In August of 2008, I became increasingly frustrated with the amount of duplication in genealogy. There had to be a site that assigned one page for one person – kind of like a Wiki. So, I searched the Internet for Genealogy and Wiki, and found WeRelate. I'm having so much fun here! JBS66

In addition to working on her own family, she has taken on two additional projects at WeRelate: organizing and adding research links for places in Québec, and doing the same for Friesland, Netherlands. She is 75% French Canadian and 25% Austrian, and her husband is 50% French Canadian and 50% Dutch, hence her interest in organizing Québec and Friesland place name pages!

If you want to help with these projects or find out more, leave her a message.

News

October 24, 2008 Connecting trees If you’ve been getting emails recently that your pages on WeRelate are being modified, that’s probably because people can now connect trees by merging duplicate pages.

Find out which of your ancestors also appear in others’ trees by clicking on Show duplicates in the MyRelate menu. Compare each family in the list to other families that are likely to be duplicates and merge the duplicates together.

Once you’re done, click on Network in the MyRelate menu to see who you are related to!
