WeRelate:Suggestions/Sort template for the 'what links here' page

Rather than add the ability to sort namespaces in a custom order, we've added the ability to filter by namespace.
Sort within namespace was changed in Jul 2029 as per note below.

I went to a Place Page and clicked on what links here to check on some folks. The results are listed first by templates, then all the sources, then all the places and FINALLY lists the persons -which is what I wanted to see. A 'what links here' page cannot be edited, but if I could have, I would have placed a template on the page so that one could select either family, person, place or sort alpha. I guess the template normally used for this would have to be edited to include templates. But some way to sort the results on a 'what links here' page would be very helpful! --janiejac 17:27, 3 July 2016 (UTC) ---

I heartily agree. I use the "What links here" section to sort out Places and their attached Sources, and for a well-populated place, the information is all over the shop. I use a 'control+f' search quite often, but every repeat search for more sources or people of the same surname starts back at line 1. This is really frustrating when you have already checked the first 500 lines. And, can we get beyong 1000? --Goldenoldie 10:03, 25 August 2016 (UTC)

Related follow up (July 2019):
For "What links here" pages, Person page links now list in surname, firstname format, so surnames are grouped together. However, these are still listed after Article, Source and Template links, and the 1000 link maximum is still in effect for Person pages. This means that "What links here" still will NOT show a complete list of Person pages.
If you are looking for a specific surname associated with a place, the Search function will return a more accurate and complete listing for what currently exists at WeRelate. --cos1776 13:59, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
