WeRelate:Suggestions/Autopatrolled user right

Assign admins and trusted users who make frequent edits to Autopatrolled status so that new page patrolling is easier. Too many incorrectly named source and place pages have been getting through and overlooked during admin review. Being able to filter edits from trusted users would be a big help for admins who review recent edits! --Jennifer (JBS66) 09:38, 11 June 2011 (EDT)

I've implemented this, but it's going to take some action by the trusted editors as well. In the software, anyone who has the ability to mark recent changes as patrolled can set a preference to automatically mark all of their own changes as patrolled: click on "Settings" in the upper-right corner, then the "Editing" tab, then "Mark edits I make as patrolled". Currently, the admins have this ability, so they just need to check the box in their settings. I'll ask all of the admins to do this. In addition, I've added a new "Patrollers" group. Any user who is added to the Patrollers group can both patrol changes and can set the preference to mark all of their own changes as patrolled. Also, I've made JBS66 and Amelia.Gerlicher "Bureaucrats," since they're watching this request. A "Bureaucrat" can change to which groups a user is assigned by clicking on "Special pages" in the Admin menu, then on "User rights management" at the bottom of the list. So you add someone to the patrollers group, then ask them to set their "Mark edits I make as patrolled" preference. There is no simple way to make a user's edits auto-patrolled without asking them to check the preference box for themselves. I could write something to check the box automatically, but I don't think it's a bad idea for the user to be aware that they're given this ability, and to be able to turn it on and off as they want.--Dallan 13:29, 17 June 2011 (EDT)
