Connecticut sources [23 August 2013]

Hello, Vincent---

Regarding my Thomas & Chidester lines, there are a huge number of high-quality published sources for Conn. public records. And for most of early New England, actually. Many are available on Ancestry, some are not. I'm a retired librarian from a public library that had one of the largest genealogy collections in the country, so I went through all those back in the 1960s and '70s, long before the Internet. Start with the "Barbour Collection of Connecticut Town Vital Records," which is 50+ volumes. There are also a large number of Conn. town and county histories that were published in the early 19th century, especially for Hartford. In fact, I would suggest you take a look at the relevant section of Cyndi's List, which lists all or most of them, and go from there. Also take a look at US GenWeb for the counties you're interested in. --MikeTalk 11:04, 22 August 2013 (EDT)

Thanks Mike. I will check out those documents. I don't live in Conn but maybe I can get hold them anyway.--Vincentsalvati 17:11, 23 August 2013 (EDT)
