Places [12 April 2011]

Hello,

Welcome back! I'm one of the volunteer administrators and just wanted to drop a note because I deleted a couple pages you created and wanted to let you know why. I deleted the page for Thomas RestHaven because we don't maintain pages for institutions - cemeteries are great though; I see you've also created a page for the Coon Rapids Cemetery, thanks! The Coon Rapids and Carroll Co. pages were duplicates of existing pages - the standardized format for place names omits any word for county, and you can find the existing pages at Place:Carroll, Iowa, United States and Place:Coon Rapids, Carroll, Iowa, United States. Thanks for your work and if you have any questions, let me know.--Amelia 20:14, 12 April 2011 (EDT)

Thanks! I knew you would clean up my work. Just noticed some things that were missing and needed some attention. Again, Thanks... and, I appreciate the note! Dr. Bill  ;-)--Dr. Bill 20:45, 12 April 2011 (EDT)

Where did Union Township Cemetery page go? I had a link to Interments.... with GPS location, etc. Mom and Dad are buried there... my gravestone is there, as well. It is also at Find A Grave...--Dr. Bill 20:53, 12 April 2011 (EDT)

I don't see that you created or edited a cemetery page, but the township page is here (renamed to omit "Township").--Amelia 21:08, 12 April 2011 (EDT)

Lloyd Fleener [26 October 2012]

I came across your entry for Lloyd, b.1872, and wondered whether this could be the same Lloyd in my records. I don't want to post to your record if yours is a different person.

My Lloyd B. Fleener was born in Abingdon, Jefferson, Iowa in 1892 to George H and Elizabeth Majors Fleener. In 1900 they are living a couple miles north in Hedrick, Keokuk Co., IA where his father was managing a hotel and Lloyd is 8 years. His sisters Blanche, Mattie, and Mary, were age 10, 6 and 4 respectively. In 1910 I found the same family in Galesburg, Knox, IL. Lloyd is indexed on Ancestry.com there as Lowd, age 18, from a very messy census form. I have Lloyd marrying "Florence" est 1925 and had a son, Jack, b. abt Jan 1927 per a 1930 Rockford, IL census.

George Henry Fleener is son to John D. and Sarah Downey Fleener, my 2nd gg parents.

This appears to be the same Lloyd Fleener, little doubt. On my side, he married the Florence Weise, in my family line, and they had a son Jack. Feel free to use this profile and update, link, tie to your family as your best records show. This is what the wiki is all about - collaboration. Thanks for the note. Wonderful. Best wishes!  ;-)--Dr. Bill 21:42, 25 October 2012 (EDT)

Caswell Robert Harris [9 June 2015]

Hey did you write the information about Caswell Robert Harris Born abt 1854? I have him born in NC instead of IN. I am a relative of his and I want to know more about him. Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you, Brad--Bt1975 22:07, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

Came from a family researcher, probably 20 years ago, before email and Internet... here is my note, in total:

Caswell was the Black Sheep of the Family. Family stories say he was always ready to fight. His brother John bite off part of his earlobe in a fight and I understand Caswell took him to court. At anyrate after the death of Levina, Caswell (they called him Bob) got into a fight with a man and killed him. There are several stories about the event..some say he left his 2 children in his wagon at the train station. There was a trial and the death was ruled self-defense, but he never knew the verdict. Dad had me looking in Indiana when I lived there for him ( Tipton Co.). Other tell me there was a letter to the Harris boys from his widow (2nd wife) asking some of them to come to TX to run a 500 ac. cotton ranch in exchange for the land after her death. There is more but I'll send you that at a later date. Jimmy Sue Rogers (direct line of John Henry and Eliza Jane) say there was a man who lived near them who was Caswell Harris(changed his name). His family said "no way".--Dr. Bill 22:46, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
