Sarah (Kilpatrick) Lenney [25 March 2017]

Well, hello cousin !

Whether Francis Sr came over with his wife, Sarah is a question I've been unable to answer. The Trumbull history by Olcott ? makes mention of only Sarah, and the storm-ridden voyage from N. Ireland to the U.S., and her burial in the Pioneer Cemetery on Mahoning Ave. Unfortunately her tombstone is either illegible or has disintegrated. Naturalization records include their male children, but no mention of Francis Sr. I've done some research of ships' passenger lists, but in the 1830s, lists are far from complete. I believe the Lenneys (and Latimers) arrived (by family lore) in Quebec, Canada and shortly thereafter down the St. Lawrence and by land, first to Ashtabula Co. and a year or two later to Warren Twp, straddling the Champion Twp line (North River Road Ext). I need to find ships arriving in Quebec. By the way, my mother, Teresa Marie (Thompson) Gardner was born in a little house on North River Rd probably built by Francis Lenney Jr where his mother, Sarah likely lived. This house passed ownership, or the one next door, to James Latimer & wife Sarah Lenney, then to Alexander "Alec" Kilpatrick & Lucy Latimer. My grandmother, Marie Elizabeth (Kilpatrick) Thompson was also born there. The two small houses are very close together. My mom said there used to be another house, closer to the road, occupied by Sam Watters, an uncle of one of the wives of a Lenney. I'll give you more details later. Any further info you have on your line, would be greatly appreciated. If you like, you can contact me at gardnerneal(at)live.com

I was beginning to wonder, if any of my Irish cousins were working on any of the same lines; glad to know there are at least a few. Regards... Neal--SkippyG 18:51, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
