Entering wife's surname [1 August 2012]

Hello Rreis, welcome to WeRelate! I noticed that you are adding pages without the wife's surname (for example, Family:Hendrik Reis and Gerritje Unknown (1)). Generally, this information is available in Genlias and it would be preferable if you could enter that information when creating the Family page. Otherwise, the page needs to be renamed, such as I have done for Family:Hendrik Reis and Johanna Hykamp (1). Hi Jennifer, I am very new to the use of this digital medium, and I am bound to make a lote of errors in the beginning :-) Thank you for correcting me, I just jumped in the stream so happy that I found a site that works and also agrees with my principles of the necessity of weaving genealogies into one another and leaving out living descendants. This is also why I hesitate to build a personal page.

I am not sure if I understand what you mean about leaving the wife's name unknown. Sometimes my family records do not have the maiden family name of the bride. kind regards Ria Reis--Rreis 13:15, 1 August 2012 (EDT)

Ria, ik heb je bericht gelezen, ik volg de veranderingen voorzover het personen betreft die ik al eens bewekt heb. Ik maak gewoon correcties en aanvullingen voorzover mogelijk. als je vragen hebt of commentaren, dan gewoon op mijn talk-page schrijven. Hi Ria, I am glad that you are enjoying WeRelate! Regarding the unknown surnames, I noticed that when you entered your first families into WeRelate, the wives' surnames were omitted (such as Hendrik Reis and Johanna Unknown which I renamed to Family:Hendrik Reis and Johanna Hykamp (1)). This may have just been a beginner's error, because it appears the families you are entering now are fine :-) If the records don't specify a surname, then you are correct to use Unknown. --Jennifer (JBS66) 18:25, 1 August 2012 (EDT)
