Nicholas Snow and change emails [4 March 2008]

Hi, and welcome.

You asked how to know what's been changed on a page. There are a couple of ways. The email that you got telling you that Nicholas Snow had changed has a link that says "view all changes since your last visit." Clicking on that will show you. Same thing happens if you go to the page, click on "history" at the top, and compare the current page with the last one you edited or viewed.

As for what actually did changed and how I knew, I don't think anything has changed yet. I'm in the process of merging the family of Stephen Hopkins, father of Nicholas's wife Constance. As part of that, I'm throwing all the Snow family information into Family:Nicholas Snow and Constance Hopkins (1) and all the Nicholas Snow info into Person:Nicholas Snow (1). Because your Nicholas was one of the first I came across and I didn't know enough to assess which dates were correct, I just moved him as a spouse to Family 1, to be merged later. Given the sources that have turned up for the dates that can now be found on Person:Nicholas Snow (1) there's not really a conflict, and your Nicholas 27 can be either merged or just deleted if you so desire (same with his parents and further back). --Amelia 22:07, 3 March 2008 (EST)

John Barker and Jane Porter [25 March 2009]

Could you please look at these families?:

http://www.werelate.org/wiki/Family:Andrew_Porter_and_Margaret_Ewing_%282%29

You have Jane Porter, daughter of Andrew Porter and Margaret Ewing as being born in 1780 and married to John Barker in 1793 (at age 13?), I have her being born abt. 1756 (but I'm unsure of the source of that information, seems too early).

On Rootsweb, it has her being born abt. 1778, which seems to fit a bit better with a marriage date of 1793 (or 1795 on Rootsweb)

http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:1654001&id=I103864555

This is not one of my direct families, so I don't "have a dog in this hunt", so if you could check your sources and merge these families once you verify which is more likely, I'd appreciate it. Since you had the earlier listing on WeRelate, I figured I'd give you the option to put the correct (or more correct dates) in before the merge.

Thanks and best regards,
