Place names [15 September 2007]

Hi, thanks so much for participating! I am an admin for WeRelate. Its my job to help people get the most out of WeRelate. You may be wondering your your place names links are red. This means that this place is not in the place index. This isn't bad, it just means that that your event will not show up on the pedigree map or be indexed in a place category. If this is a well known place, chances are it's in the index but listed differently. Type in the town, county, or district followed by a comma. Wait a few moments and a list of all the possible places in the index will drop down. Many places change their names even countries, these renamed places will appear at top of the list. Scroll down to your place and click on it. If your place is not on the list, type in Town, County, Country (do not use abbreviations) and save the page. When you click on the red link you can create a new place page for that place. If you include the latitude and longitude or if it is contained in a county or country already in the system, it will appear on your pedigree map.--sq 13:42, 15 September 2007 (EDT)

House Number 46, Bay Saint Louis, Hancock Co., MS [18 September 2007]

I am sorry but I had to delete your page "House Number 46, Bay Saint Louis, Hancock Co., MS" because we don't have enough hardware to store addresses. I hope you understand. :)--sq 23:04, 18 September 2007 (EDT)

BenJackson.GED appears to overlap a previously-imported GEDCOM [3 October 2007]

The pages from this GEDCOM have not yet been generated because they appear to match pages from a GEDCOM you have previously imported to WeRelate.

If you have already imported a GEDCOM containing people in this GEDCOM and you want to replace that tree with this GEDCOM, you need to delete that tree first so duplicates aren't created when you import this GEDCOM. Go to the Family Tree page, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click on the "delete" link next to that tree. Please be aware that any pages in that tree that are being watched by others won't get deleted. Once that tree is deleted you can create a new tree and re-upload this GEDCOM into it. (We're planning to make re-uploading GEDCOM files much simpler later this Fall.)

If you don't think you have already imported a GEDCOM containing people in this GEDCOM, or if the two GEDCOM's don't overlap that much, leave a message for Dallan or send an email to dallan@WeRelate.org and we'll go ahead with the import.

You are correct the BenJackson DEDCOM is a duplication and should noy be loaded. Sorry my mistake. I have deleted it.

I have another ptoblem. I loaded the CandC GEDCOM and failed to give it a name. I can not delete is or view it. Please remove it. I will reload it later and give it a name. Or, you can give it a name - any name - and leave it up.

Your Tree

Hi, you should be able to access your tree now. Click on the "Family Tree" tab at the top of the page, go to the bottom of that page and select your tree. It's the default tree. Let me know if you have any more problems and thanks for participating. :)--sq 13:09, 4 October 2007 (EDT)

Jacksons in South Carolina [2 May 2012]

Hi John, I just added a Category:Jackson Brick Wall to your page for James Jackson here: http://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:James_Jackson_%2891%29. As a Jackson researcher, I'd like to enourage you to continue to add what you know of these folks to WeRelate. I'd love to know the source you have for this family; it looks like it might be from a will. Did you know that you can create a page called 'Transcript' for pasting in a transcribed will and linking the names in the will to their person pages? But it's easier to just paste the will in James' person page.

I am very interested in South Carolina Jacksons and am eager to have as many as possible on WeRelate. --Janiejac 16:44, 2 May 2012 (EDT)
