THANKS [2 June 2012]

Hello Herrmoody,This is a great site and you have done a lot of work. My (our) Keller line is elusive and there are very few people working on their genealogy. I am very new at this site. I have some great info to add but not so sure how to go about it all. Feel free to change or correct goofs I make. I want to get the info right as well.

The info I added is the first documentation that Elizbeth keller's maiden name was Schad that I have found anywhere. She has been listed as having different names on her children's death certificates etc.

I am a retired teacher living in Lehi Utah.I love mysteries and the Keller family is full of mysteries..so I'm on the hunt to solve my elusive Keller past.--Skpowell 22:04, 1 June 2012 (EDT)

Keller help [2 June 2012]

Hello, Actually the source I added was confirmation of Charles (carl) Celestine keller (sr) middle name. He has gone by Chas, Charles, Carl, C, G, J, A, Keller also. The info was from his son's death certificate Charles "charley' Celestine Keller (jr).

I stumbled upon the Elizabeth Schad name just yesterday and will add it pronto.

All help appreciated. skpowell--Skpowell 22:11, 1 June 2012 (EDT)

More keller info [2 June 2012]

Hello again, Carl came from Switzerland/Germrany, Canton Aurgau, Baden. I have had trouble finding Swiss Records for Carl and Eliz. too. I think they may have changed their names?? When they came to America ...with the intent of settling in Indiana...they stopped for several years in ohio. I checked on the Schad name....tons of Schads settled in ohio. Maybe Elizabeh had relatives there. I'm checking into this.

Emil D had a big ranch in Montana. I shared files with a lady looking for information about Emil D ranch....family members of hers had been murdered and buried on his Ranch. It was a big federal case. I can't find any indication Emil D was involved...but me may have literally sold the ranch and moved to Seattle WA. He was married to Blanche O keller...he had two daughters Bessie nd Josephine. They later divorced. I found his grave. He is buried in Portland Oregon..the headstone says E D Keller. he died in 1926. You indicate he may have had some trouble? Would love to know what you think happened to him.

Louis, Emil's younger brother also lived in Montana...he was a barber. I think he was married several times. A relative of mine doing some research into this crazy family, ran across info that he died in a mining accident. I cannot find death records of any type for Louis.

I've also run across fmily notes, that the Keller's are descendants of Kaiser Whilhelm?? Maybe just wishful thinking. HA

I've looked at all kinds of Germrarn royalty lineage charts and have not found anything that matches birthdates or names. This would be an interesting turn of events if so.

I have discovered a whole other email's worth about Charles "charley" jr....WOW what a life he lead.

I'll start adding things as I find them.... History mysteries at every turn. skp--Skpowell 19:37, 2 June 2012 (EDT)

A break through on Charles Keller family info! [16 August 2012]

Hello Herrmoody, GREAT NEWS!!! I posted a question about Carl keller sr on the geneal-forum message boards and received help from someone doing random research in the Baden Switz archives. Willy Eberhard, living in Switz has found Carl keller sr. parents for us!!! First, Carl Keller sr's name was changed as I have suspected all along. His real name was Karl Ludwig Keller. (now I know why some newspapers articles and documents he signed as charles L keller). He and his family did come from Baden in Switzerland. He was born sept 24th 1819....his father was Bernard Fidel keller and his mother was Klara Herzog.

Willy has not found a marraige of Karl and Elisa Schaad yet (looking in Catholic church records in Baden), but has found the records of his 4 children born in switzerland. They were christened with differnt names as well: Elisabeth keller....Elisa Paulina (Bernard keller is listed with another wife Elisa huzler here) Laura keller Charles Celestin jr..charles coelestin Emil dietrich Emma Verena (apparently stillborn or died young in Switz). Karl Ludwig is listed with the profession of feilenhauer....file cutter.

Willy is sending me info as he finds them in the Baden Archives..

I am so excited to have someone in Switz. willing to help me out...

I'll get information posted as it arrives.

Help with editing [17 September 2012]

Hello Hermoody, I tried to add Carl keller's real name karl ludwig keller. His name is changed on your people page. When you search for Carl keller, or Charles Keller or Karl keller you won't find his page.....search for karl ludwig keller. I screwed this up. If you could wade in and show karl ludwig as the pre-emmigation name or alternate name I would appreciate the help.--Keller-powell 23:44, 16 September 2012 (EDT)

More info on the kellers! [4 November 2012]

Hello Hermoody, I arranged to see the Baden Kirchenbuch microfiche files through my local familysearch center. I have the record indefinitley for now. The catholic church books go from 1300-1800's and cover deaths, births, christtenings, marraiges, celebrations, and illigitimate births. I was able to find the info that Willy Eberhard got me started on. In looking through the Kirchenbuch, my knowledge of old german script and latin inference is being tested to the max.!! I have since found that karl ludwig has many siblings...trying to track down if they made it to America also.i think Caspar did? I've found Clara herzog's siblings...they were all confirmed on the same day (lucky me). I've found marraiges and birth recordings for Karl, Bernard jr and Bernard sr. I have not found Caspar heinrich Keller'sparents yet. I was allowed to photograph the individual citations on the microfiche. Do you want me to post them here with each person? I am putting them on ancestry.com and family tree for now. I am not very good at citations, but the software helps. What I don't know & what the records don't tell me, is what they did for a living. I still have found very few folks researching our line of kellers. Did you say that you were related to the Albert keller family? If so I found a photo and put it on my ancestry.com tree...I belive it is a photo of Albert, his three boy and Karl Keller. I have no proof, because I haven't seen a family photo of the Karl ludwig family or of Albert. if you do have a photo, could youshare with me? No one in our remaining family has any pictures beyond Charley keller.

I will post more info as i find leads...i'll post what i can and try not to mess up all of your precice citation work..thankts for being patient with my attempts to add data.

Back to the genealogy lab tomorrow...skp--Keller-powell 23:08, 3 November 2012 (EDT)

I found Julius Keller...he is buried in a catholic church cemetary, but the church no longer exists so I don't know any more than this. I found his burial info on the ACPL database:

http://www.genealogycenter.info/results_churchburials.php

I also found a gruesome article about how he died...he fell from an apple tree while steeling apples.. http://www.archives.com/member/Default.aspx?_act=OriginalImage&UniqueID=41016065&FullName=Julius Keller&RecordType=NA&SearchType=newspapers&DetailedUrl=http%3a%2f%2fwww.archives.com%2fmember%2fDefault.aspx%3f_act%3dNewspaperArchiveRecordView%26info.type%3dNewspapers%26FullName%3djulius%2520%2520keller%26EventYear%3d1882%26Country%3dUnited%2520States%2520Of%2520America%26Location%3dIndiana%26City%3dFort%2520Wayne%26uniqueId%3d41016065 see this newspaper...left side top middle column...so sad./ There is a small article the next day announcing his burial same newspaper.

Anthony Eymer [24 February 2015]

Hi,

I just saw your post with Anthony Eymer and Sarah as parents of Margaret Eymer. Do you have any other information about the family? Last night I was able to trace Anthony back to Germany, however, I would like to know more about his family. Did Margaret have siblings?

Thanks for your time,

Janice Eymer Kessler, Sault Ste. Marie, MI--Gramma Janice 4 02:18, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

I've pretty much put all of the information I have on the Person:Anthony_Eymer_(1) page. On there I put the full text of his will which lists his five children (Peter, David, Polly, Caroline & Margaret). I've created bare pages for all of the children, although I know a little more about Caroline as she married someone named Rensselaer Hakes and they had a couple children who became prominent in Haddock Township in Peoria County and had biographies entered in a history of Peoria County published in 1880 (See this page on archive.org).

That is the only source that I have that he was born in Germany and has a rather interesting (if completely unsourced and perhaps dubious) claim that he was a cabin boy in the fleet that brought the British general Burgoyne to the Colonies/U.S. in 1775 during the Revolutionary War. That would essentially make him a Hessian, but I've never found any clear evidence backing that up and the only place I know that could back that up would be English war records, which would likely require a lengthy visit to London. It makes a great story though.

That's pretty much as much as I know about the Eymer's. I was thrilled to actually figure out Margaret's last name as all of the records I'd ever found didn't have one until I found the death record of her daughter Mary. I've never found equivalent information for Sarah (Anthony's wife) and I have no idea what kind of process he took to becoming a U.S. citizen and where Sarah came from.

I'd be interested to know if you have any good information about his German origins, as I have never found any convincing evidence to point to exactly where he came from. I did some searches for the name a while back and had some theories based on the prevalence of last names similar to Eymer, but I've never found a smoking gun.--Herrmoody 05:04, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Anthony Eymer/Germany [25 February 2015]

Hi,

This is the info I found regarding Anthony. It would make him about 15 years old when he came to America in 1775 which is about right for a Cabin Boy. He is apparently a Palatine German from the Rhine Valley according to the location named in this document. I was pleased to find the names of his parents!

EYMER FAMILY – Germany – begin with Christening of Antonius Eymer 31 Jan 1760

Antonius Eymer Germany, Births and Baptisms Name: Antonius Eymer

Event Date: 1694 - 1798 Gender: Male Christening Date: 31 Jan 1760 Christening Place: KATHOLISCH, OPPENHEIM, RHEINHESSEN, HESSE-DARMSTADT Father's Name: Francisci Eymer

Mother's Name: Mariae Elisabethae

Reference ID: 2:RZ73JN , System Origin: Germany-VR , GS Film Number: 949089 , Indexing Project (Batch) Number: C97869-2--Gramma Janice 4 02:16, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Good find. I think you are probably right about that being a match as the date makes sense, the name is dead-on (and it's an unusual name), and although the region isn't perfect (Oppenheim from what I can tell wasn't a major source for Hessian soldiers during the American Revolution) it isn't that far off either.

I don't know if you've done this, but you should search the father in batch number C97869-2 on Family Search. That pulls up 9 birth records dating from the 1750s through the 1760s, and the mother in all of them is the same (lucky woman that she was able to give birth over that period of time and survive). These records frequently provide maiden names, and these records are no exception: her full name was Elisabeth Bauer (probably Maria Elisabeth Bauer but from my experience with German records, women tend to have two names and people play fast and loose with which ones they include in any given record).

I would love to have some kind of detail about what happened to Anthony after arriving in North America. If the tale is true (came with Burgoyne) it's possible he wound up with Burgoyne at Saratoga where a great number of Hessians were captured. As I've never found Anthony in the formal list of Hessians, however, it's unlikely that there's good documentation about his war record.--Herrmoody 05:11, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
