Gedcom help [17 February 2008]

Hi Mark,

You exported your tree from Ancestry and saved it as a gedcom; it has the extension .ged correct? Then did you follow these instructions:

Click on the Add tab at the top of the page, then on the Import GEDCOM link. Click on the Browse button to select the GEDCOM file that you just exported, select a tree to import it into, and click on the Import GEDCOM button.

If you have followed the above instructions; then when the gedcom upload is processed; you will receive a message from Dallan on your talk page. This sometimes takes 2 or more hours depending on the gedcom content. --Beth 16:53, 16 February 2008 (EST)

Hi Beth,

Yes, I followed all those procedures multiple times including making sure the GEDCOM file has the .ged extension. I don't ever get the note saying it's been uploaded to the site, either.--Bmarkjones 17:31, 16 February 2008 (EST)

Mark, I don't think you need to upload another one. <g> When did you first upload a gedcom? --Beth 17:44, 16 February 2008 (EST)

I first uploaded it the day you invited me. I believe it was the 14th.--Bmarkjones 17:51, 16 February 2008 (EST)

Hi Mark. It appears as though WeRelate is not recognizing that you are even attempting to upload a GEDCOM. At the very least, you should have received an error message here on your talk page, but I don't see anything. Did you try uploading the GEDCOM per Beth's instructions instead of through the FTE? That is, click on the ADD tab in the blue menu bar at the top of this page, then on IMPORT GEDCOM. See if that works. If you have already tried this, then perhaps there is a hiccup with GEDCOM uploads and that is something Dallan will have to look into. First, let us know if you have tried using the ADD button above though. Sorry you are having troubles. --Ronni 20:57, 16 February 2008 (EST)

Did you read Dallan's message on my talk page? It was a glitch in the system. So sorry, but if you upload your gedcom again, it should work this time. You should receive a notice in about 1 hour that the gedcom import was successful. If not contact Dallan. --Beth 08:12, 17 February 2008 (EST)

For questions or problems, leave a message for Dallan or send an email to dallan@WeRelate.org.

henry h beasley [16 May 2008]

Mark, please e-mail me at davems6@bellsouth.net

I am a g.g.g.grandson of Henry H Beasley and Mary Coker and am wondering if Henry H is the same Henry that was in the Alabama 30th Infantry Regiment:

Last Name: Beasley Regimental Unit: 30th Alabama Regiment Company Unit: D Authority: Muster in Roll Camp Curry 1862/03/31 Enlistment Date: 1862/03/06 Enlistment Information: Age 23, Talladega, Private

The age is right -- he would have been born in 1839, but I can find no online record of a pension application but wondered if that could have been filed in MS if he were living there at the time of his death. David--Storyda 13:20, 16 May 2008 (EDT)

James Harris/ Mary Anne McKinney [8 June 2009]

Hello,

Would you care to share information about James Harris and Mary Anne McKinney? They are my Ancestor's, and I have collected some information on them and their family.--Harris Cousin 00:58, 8 June 2009 (EDT)

Ferree First Four Generations Project [19 October 2009]

My name is Charles Heisterkamp (kamp3genealogy@netscape.net). I note that we share an interest in members of the Ferree, Faulkner & Heard families. I have placed the first FIVE generations of the Ferree family in America on WeRelate. I hope to improve the primary documentation through a cooperative effort to locate wills, land records, etc. I do have more extensive data on some of their descendants. I would be happy to exchange information with you. Have a great day. Charles--Ckamp3 20:22, 18 October 2009 (EDT)

Problem Page - needs to be resolved. [24 June 2010]

Hello, I am one of the Volunteer Administrator's at WeRelate. Please review the following family:

James Neely and Eleanor Phillips

Please check your sources for information that you added for this family, and their son, Isaac. If James Neely who married Eleanor Phillips was the son of James Neely, Sr., his son Isaac could not have been born in 1750. Please review and correct.

Thanks much,

Jim:)--Delijim 15:28, 24 June 2010 (EDT)
