Jim,

Thank you for the info that said there is no proven brother relationship between Charles and James Campbell, but that they might be somehow related.

Now I have a question about Letecia Allison. What record can you show me or send me that documents her marriage to James Campbell? Any date of the record showing marriage, death, will or inheritance, etc... would be fantastic. As you noted in the webpage I cited above in my previous topic. This site does not want to post a URL.

Campbell question [27 October 2023]

Hi Kelly/BigTex, I looked at your info on James and Charles Campbell. James Campbell appears to be pretty clearly a son of Robert Campbell (1718-1810) of Hawkins County, Tennessee, but Charles is not mentioned in any of the sources that I found as a possible brother of James, making this appear unlikely. They could certainly be likely cousins, but to assume they are brothers just because they had land near each other in Augusta County, VA would likely be making an assumption without any evidence to link them, in my opinion. I hope you find further info to determine Charles Campbell's parentage. The Campbells were a large family with many branches, so hopefully records may come to light to help you in your search in the future. Best regards and take care, Jim :)--Delijim 15:42, 27 October 2023 (UTC)

Charles Campbell, son of Gilbert [28 October 2023]

Is is possible that your Charles Campbell is the son of Gilbert Campbell of the James River, Augusta County, VA?

He is mentioned in the following record: dna-explained Charles Campbell (c1750-c1825)'

The abstract of Gilbert Campbell’s will is found in Lyman Chalkley’s Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in Virginia, Vol. 3, p.19., Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1989.

The original is found in Augusta Co. Court, Will Book No. 1, p. 294. The abstract reads as follows, along with additional information:

Page 294: 29th August, 1750. Gilbert Campbell’s will, of Forks of James River, plantationer

Wife, Prudence Campbell, alias Osran Son, George (infant) Son Charles (infant) Daughter, Elizabeth Woods, alias Campbell Son, James Daughter, Prudence Hays Daughter, Sarah Campbell Daughter, Lattice Campbell Executors, James Trimble, Thomas Stuart and Andrew Hays.

Teste: James Thompson, Robert Allison, Alex. McMullen.--Delijim 21:36, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
