1673; Rachel, 16 Sept. 1677; John, 15 Sept. 1679; and Thomas, 1683.
SAMUEL, Hingham, s. of the first Samuel, was a soldier in Philip's war,
serv. in cavalry attach. to Johnson's comp. for Narraganset campaign,
Dec. 1676, m. 29 Apr. 1687, Deborah, d. of William Hersey, had
Deborah, b. 15 June 1689; Samuel, 1 Feb. 1691; Jedediah, 2 Oct
1692; Mary, 18 Sept. 1694; Rebecca, 11 Aug. 1697; Elisha, 3 Sept.
1699; Lydia, 14 Sept. 1701; Abigail, 11 Jan. 1704; and Susanna, 18
Apr. 1706. Jedediah, wh. d. at more than 90 yrs. is progenit. of very
num. public men, as thro. s. Enoch, f. of the disting. Levi, H. C. 1772,
of Worcester, wh. was f. of Levi, H. C. 1802, Gov. of Mass. and of
Enoch, Gov. of Maine, as thro. s. William of Solomon, the glad historian
of his nat. town. STEPHEN, Hingham 1638, came that yr. from Wymondham,
a town a. 9 ms. from Norwich, bring. mo. w. and s. Stephen,
not in the Diligent, that arr. 10 Aug. of that yr. as Cushing, wh. was
careful to note his fellow-passeng. told us; had Sarah, b. 22 Mar.
1642; and his w. wh. name is unkn. d. next mo.; the d. d. 4
Nov. 1649, and he d. 11 Oct. 1658. His will, made 3 days bef. ment.
his mo. Joan, Susanna, d. of his br. Thomas, and gives part of his est.
to mo. but most to only ch. STEPHEN, Hingham, only s. of the preced.
b. in Eng. m. Feb. 1660, Elizabeth d. of Matthew Hawke, had Elizabeth b. 3
Nov. 1660; Mary, 27 Dec. 1662; Stephen, 9 Nov. 1665; David, 22
Sept. 1668, bef. ment.; Bethia, 29 Oct. 1670; Abigail, 7 Apr. 1673;
Margaret, 30 June 1677, and James, 26 Oct. 1681, bef. ment. was
freem. 1680, and d. 17 Sept. 1692, and his wid. d. 4 Nov. 1713. Elizabeth
m. 4 Jan. 1693, Ephraim Marsh; Mary m. 11 Jan. 1688, Enoch Whiton;
Bethia m. 16 Apr. 1701, John Lane; and of the other two as. no rec.
of m. or d. is found. STEPHEN, Hingham, s. of the preced. never m.
was ens. town clk. and d. 27 Dec. 1717; THOMAS, Hingham 1636, the
weaver, elder br. of the first Samuel, was two yrs. or more at Watertown
and Charlestown, having, says the Cushing MS. come with Nicholas
Jacob, a relat. in 1633; had gr. of lds. in 1635, and house lot gr. 3 July
1636, so that he would be judged a first sett. with Hobart, and may have
been the freem. of MR. 1638 or of 18 May 1642. His first w. Susanna
d. Mar. 1641, and he had ano. w. Mary, who, by one report, prob. erron.
outliv. him, and d. 2 Sept. 1675, leav. no ch. His will is without date,
but well pro. provides for w. gives small legacy to br. Samuel, larger
to Samuel, and Daniel, s. of that br. and smaller to ea. of the other liv.
