Margaret, w. of John P. whose gr.-st. says she d. 20 Oct. 1702, or 1672,
as sometimes read, aged 74, was his third w. He was one of the founders
of the new ch. for Richard Mather, 1636; d. 12 Apr. 1646. Of his
will the abstr. may be seen in Geneal. Reg. VII. 229; yet why it was
not pro. bef. 5 June 1649 and inv. delay. to four days preced. would be
difficult to guess, unless we suppose the last fig. to be erron. It ment. w.
and a d. but no s. four serv. br. Thomas, and Joshua, my sis.s h. We
might by this docum. judge the testator to have been a weaver, rather
than a shoemaker. But early acco. is sadly confus. of all the Dorchester
Popes; and the most patient of their inquir. cannot wholly unravel.
One Jane, wh. d. 12 Jan. 1663, in her will of 18 Apr. preced. gives to
her d. Patience, w. of Edward Blake; but whether she was w. of this
John, or when that d. was b. I find not. See Geneal. Reg. XI. 339.
JOHN, Dorchester, perhaps s. of the preced. by w. Beatrice had John, b.
1 July 1658; Jane, 12 May 1677; and Joseph, 17 Oct. 1680, d. in one
wk. as says Geneal. reg. V. 465, and adds that his wid. Beatrice was at
Lancaster, 1700. In Hist. of D. 74, John P. sen. d. 19 Oct. 1686, but
this may not of necessity deny a former John, any more than it would
make Margaret w. of John, wh. d. Oct. 1672, as it declares, the same
Margaret left wid. of John 19 Oct. 1686. JOHN, Springfield 1678, prob.
rem. to Windsor 1683, there d. that yr. unm. it is thot. JOSEPH,

1653; and Samuel, 18 May 1656; beside Enos, not bapt.; in 1658, was
punish. for going to Quaker meet. and d. a. 1667. His will of 11 Sept.
1666, pro. 27 June foll. made w. Gertrude extrix, and name. the two ds.
and four s. last ment. Damaris m. Joshua Buffum; and Hannah m.
Caleb Buffum. JOSEPH, Salem, s. of the preced. liv. at the vill. wh. was
made Danvers, freem. 1690, m. Bathshua Folger, had Nathaniel, b. 20
Nov. 1679; Joseph, wh. d. young; Bathshua, 9 Apr. 1683; Gertrude, 27
Aug. 1685; Joseph, again, 16 June 1687; Enos, 6 June 1690; Eleazer,
4 Dec. 1693; and Jerusha, 1 Apr. 1695; and he d. 1712. His will of
25 Jan. pro. 3 Mar. of that yr. names all the ch. but the first two, and
notes that the eldest d. was infirm of mind. as prob. had been her mo.
at least she was much afflict. in the witchcraft days; also names Mary,
and Sarah, ch. of his s. Nathaniel. dec. bef. 1711. RICHARD, Dorchester
1635, but Mr. Clap thinks was not long there, and he call. br. by
Joseph in his will. SAMUEL, Salem, br. of the preced. m. 28 Jan.
1686, Exercise Smith, had Damaris, b. Feb. 1687, d. in few mos.;
