to be sold in the shambles like other cattle, of wh. the cargoes to
Boston would amount to as many hundreds. He was of B. perhaps carr.
by his owner 1659, freem. 1690, and m. 29 May 1662. Rebecca. d. of
Andrew Stevenson of Cambridge, had Mary, b. 22 Aug. 1666; James,
28 Feb. 1669, d. young; Andrew, 4 Apr. 1672; John, 8 Apr. 1675;
Joseph, 1 Jan 1678; Rebecca, 18 July 1680, d. young; James, again, 13
Apr. 1683; and Jonathan, 31 Jan. 1686. He serv. in the great war with
the Ind. 1675, and with other soldiers, when his merits were duly consid.
near. sixty yrs. aft. was reward. with gr. of ld. Narraganset, No. 6,
and his gr.s. drew the proper share. His will pro. 1701, names br. in
law, Andrew Stevenson. It is by hims. confident. mark. in his descript.
or otherwise might have been noted with a slur as that of "a Scotchman."
Mary, the eldest ch. m. 30 Jan. 1689, Peter Proctor of Chelmsford.
JAMES, Billerica, s. of the preced. rem. to Dunstable, there had
w. Mary, prob. brot. from B. s. John, b. 10 Apr. 1711; and a. 1718 rem.
to Groton, there d. 1737. No doubt he had other ch. and James of G.
Jonathan, Hezekiah,and Mary were their names, but the order or dates
of birth for all are unkn. JOHN, Billerica, br. of the preced. m. at Concord,
29 Dec. 1702, Joanna Hall, had Keziah, b. 5 Feb. 1704; Rebecca,
15 Jan. 1706; Hannah, 9 July 1710; Mary, 19 Mar. 1714; and Elizabeth
24 Feb. 1723. JOHN, Stratford, s. of the first Andrew, by w. Mary, had
Parthenia, b. 29 Nov. 1730, bapt. 28 Mar. foll.; Josiah, 25 Mar. 1732,
bapt. 1 Apr. of next yr.; John, 11 Dec. 1734; Ashbel, 3 Apr. bapt.
same mo. 1737; Ephraim, 22 Mar. 1739; Stephen, bapt. 3 May 1741;
Mary, 16 Jan. 1743; Matthew, 17 Mar. 1745; Isaac, 24 June 1747, and
Parthenia, again, 7 May 1749. JONATHAN, br. of the first John, liv. at
Watertown, 1707, was a tailor, perhaps connnect. with his br. Joseph,
rem. perhaps to Deerfield, there m. a. 1713, Mary, d. of deac. Eliezur
Hawks, had Jonathan, b. 18 Dec. 1714, d. at 7 yrs.; and Eliezur, 1
Sept. 1716; rem. to Northfield, and d. 1718. His wid. d. 1757, aged
61. JOSEPH, Watertown, tailor, br. of the preced. m. at. Sudbury, 22
Sept. 1701, Mercy, the youngest ch. prob. of John Goodnow the sec. tho.
her name by Barry is Mary, ahd Mercy, b. 1 Sept. 1702; Mary, 16
Aug. 1704; Lydia, 9 Oct. 1706, d. young; Eunice, 19 Apr. 1708; Joseph,
27 Aug. 1710; Hepzibah, 7 Dec. 1713; Sybil, bapt. 27 Nov.
1715; Lydia, again, b. 12 Oct. 1718; and Elizabeth 27 Sept. 1727, but this by
third w. m. 19 Nov. 1724, Rebecca, wid. of James Livermore, d. of John
