1663, m. Susanna, only ch. of Henry Cunliffe, was k. by lightning, 28
Apr. 1665. NATHANIEL, Hempstead, L. I. s. of Robert of Providence
or Warwick, from wh. prob. on m. of his mo. he rem. m. 30 Aug. 1667,
Martha Jackson. NATHANIEL, Hartford, R. of John, the carpenter of
the same, m. Nov. 1676, Lydia Davis, had Nathaniel, b. 6 Nov. 1682.
His w. d. 25 Jan. 1684, and he m. 23 Oct. foll. Mary Benton, had no
other ch. and d. 20 Apr. 1708, leav. good est. to his s. NICHOLAS,
Wells, was constable 1658, had Jane, wh. m. Joseph Litchfield, and next,
2 July 1698, John Heard of Dover. Perhaps he had, also, NICHOLAS,
of Wells, a soldier, k. by the Ind. 11 May 1704. His name on Maine
rec. appears Coole. RICE, or RISE, abbrev. for RICHARD, Charlestown
1630, among mem. of the ch. of Boston precedes Rev. John Eliot, and
he is of those dism. Oct. 1632, to form the new ch. at C. with his w.
of the odd name of Arnold, wh. does not, however, stand in the Boston
list, was adm. freem. 1 Apr. 1633, and d. 15 May 1646. He was s. of
Isaac, and brot. from Eng. prob. by his f. From the will of his wid. call.
Harold Colles, made 20 Dec. 1661, pro. six days after, we learn, that he
had s. John, and also it names gr.ch. John and Mary C. beside s. Lowden,
and Pierce, wh. had, of course, m. ds. and gr.ch. John, Mary, and
James L. ROBERT, Roxbury, came in the fleet with Winthrop req. to be
made freem. 19 Oct. 1630, and was adm. 18 May foll. rem. perhaps to
Salem, and to Ipswich, was oft. punish. for drunken. yet in 1638 seems
to be reform. if remis. of fines may just. be thus understood, tho. it may
only have been act of policy to ensure his rem. from our jurisdict. But
at last he went to Providence, was reform. in earnest, and bec. one of
the found. of the first Bapt. ch. there. By w. Mary he had John, beside
Daniel, Nathaniel, Robert, and ds. Sarah, perhaps youngest; Ann, wh. m.
Henry Townsend; Elizabeth wh. m. John Townsend; both from L. I. where
Quakers were persecut. by the Dutch. He d. bef. 18 Oct. 1654, when
the town counc. exercis. their duty of mak. distrib. of his prop. in the way
he should have made his will. The wid. m. Matthias Harvey, and rem. to
Oyster Bay, L. I. with her s. Nathaniel and Daniel, and the two ds. that
m. Townsend foll. ROBERT, Boston, by w. Ann had d. Staines, b. 19
Jan. 1681; s. Staines, 10 Dec. 1682; and Richard, 21 Jan. 1685.
SAMPSON, Boston 1673, m. Elizabeth d. of Edward Weeden, had Elizabeth b. 7
June 1674, d. young; Elizabeth again, 19 Nov. 1679; David, 21 Dec. 1683;
and Jonathan, 2 Sept. 1686. ║ SAMUEL, Boston, came in the fleet with
Winth. and with his w. Ann join. the ch. as Nos. 40 and 41 of the mem.
desir. adm. as freem. 19 Oct. 1630, and was sw. 18 May foll. and of ar.
co. 1637, being one of its found. The first ho. of entertain. in B. was
open. by him 1633. His w. d. early, and how many ch. she had is not
cert. but prob. the sec. w. wh. was wid. Margaret Green, and his third,
m. 16 Oct. 1660, Ann, wid. of Robert Keayne, gave him none. The
