Nov. 1688; and was a householder in 1695. That he may have been
the same as the preced. is an easy conject. but less prob. RICHARD,
New London, s. of the first Richard, m. 14 Aug. 1710, Elizabeth eldest d.
of Gov. Saltonstall, had Richard, b. 29 July 1712; Elizabeth 13 Sept. 1714;
Mary, 17 Dec. 1716; Joseph, 30 Nov. 1722; and Catharine, 2 Jan. 1725.

    CHRISTOPHERSON, WENDLOCK, Mass. a. 1660, tried, convict.
as a Quaker, and banish. Hutch. I. 201. Sewel writes the name in his
Hist. Christison; and Col. Rec. gives Christianson.

    CHUBB, PASCOE, Andover. m. 29 May 1689, Hannah Faulkner, prob.
d. of Edmund, was in command of the fort at Pemaquid in July 1696,
wh. he basely, it is said, gave up to the Fr. without fir. a gun. Cruelty,
beside treachery, to the Ind. on 16 Feb. preced. is ascrib. to him by
Niles, wh. could aggravate the infamy of the tragedy by the remark
" that it was acted on the Lord's day." With our unchristian natives of
the forest the remembr. of injury is near. as strong as their sense of
justice, and they totally cut off him, his w. and fam. on Tuesday, 23 Feb.
1698. Hutch. H. 93, 4, 106. THOMAS, Dorchester 1631, was from
Crewkerne, Co. Somerset, border. on Devon, rem. 1636, to Salem,
prob. that pt. wh. bec. Beverly, and d. 17 Oct. 1688, aged 81. WILLIAM,
a soldier from an R. part of the Col. was serv. at Hadley, Apr. 1676.

    CHUBBUCK, JOHN, Hingham, s. of Thomas, m. Dec. 1668, Martha
Beal, had Thomas, John, Jonathan, and Nathaniel, beside ds. Martha,
and Alice, all liv. with w. when he d. of smallpox, 26 Nov. 1690, a lieut.
in the sad expedit. against Quebec. His wid. Martha had admin. 28
Apr. 1691. NATHANIEL, Hingham, br. of the preced. m. June 1669,
wid. of John Garnet of H. and his ho. was burn. by the Ind. 20 Apr.
1676. THOMAS, Charlestown 1634, by w. Alice, wh. was adm. of the
ch. 3 Apr. 1635, had Nathaniel, bapt. 4 May 1635; rem. prob. next yr.
to Hingham, there was made freem. 1672, and d. Dec. 1676, leav. s. Nathaniel,
and John, bef. ment. beside ds. Sarah, wh. m. 6 Oct. 1657,
Jeremiah Fitch; Rebecca, w. of William Hersey; and Mary, wh. m.
18 Feb. 1663, Thomas Lincoln.

    CHURCH, BENJAMIN, Little Compton, s. of Richard, was a carpenter,
but much disting. as capt. in the Ind. wars, m. 26 Dec. 1667, Alice, d. of
Constant Southworth of Duxbury, where he liv. sev. yrs. had Thomas,
b. 1674; Constant, 12 May 1676; Benjamin; Edward; Charles; Elizabeth 26 Mar.
1684; and Nathaniel, 1 July 1686, wh. d. young; beside, prob. Alice; was
in gr. serv. for the latter part of Philip's war, and liv. some yrs. later at
Bristol, of wh. he was the first rep. at Plymouth 1682-4; in the E. war,
1689, and 90, had ch. command, and soon after rem. to L. C. there d. 17
Jan. 1718, aged 78, by gr.stone. His wid. d. 5 Mar. 1719, aged 73.
Perpet. of the name was by Thomas, Edward, and Charles. Edward
