Lincolnshire Parish Registers.
Marriages.

Vol. VIII.

Marriages at Navenby, 1562 to 1837.

Notes.

The earlier Registers of Navenby are contained in seven volumes, as follows :—

Volume I. consists of 22 leaves of parchment measuring 12 by 8 ins., and a fragmentary leaf which bears Burials for 1704. There are also a few paper leaves at end containing memoranda of money collected by Church Briefs from 1689 to 1696. The whole volume contains entries of Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials from 1681 to 1719 inclusive, and an entry of one burial (William Middlebrook, senr.) for 1720. The volume is bound in parchment-covered boards.

Volume II. also in parchment boards, consists of 49 leaves of parchment measuring 12¾ by 7½ inches, and contains entries of Baptisms and Burials from 1721 to 1805 inclusive, and Marriages from 1721 to 1758. It will be noticed that entries for 1720 are missing ; it is possible they were contained on one or more parchment leaves which appear to have been cut out of the end of Volume I.

Volume III., of paper, a folio book of printed forms, bound in rough calf, contains Marriages from 1754 to 1813.

Volume IV., bound in rough calf, has a large proportion of its parchment leaves blank, having been superseded by the books ordained by Roses Act in 1813, long before it was filled. It contains Baptisms and Burials from 1806 to 1812, and four Burials in 1813.

Volume V., a folio paper book of printed forms, bound in parchment boards, contains Marriages from 1813 to 1837.

Volumes VI. and VII., similar volumes, contain Baptisms and Burials respectively from 1813 to 1837.

The Marriages from 1562 to 1680 have been supplied from the Bishops' Transcripts by Canon C. W. Foster.

These Marriages have been copied by Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Blagg, and are now printed under their supervision by permission of the Rev. G. T. Handford, Rector of Navenby.
