[add comment] [edit] Looks great! [20 January 2015]I haven't really been involved in duplicates at all, but this seems like a great start, and looks really good! -- Jdfoote1 04:08, 20 January 2015 (UTC) [add comment] [edit] Maintenance note [23 November 2016]Just to let you know that I added a little formatting and clarification to the template and tested it to make sure that it still worked which it does. It does look nice, but it doesn't seem to be used very often. It was only being used in two cases, one of which I decided to go ahead and merge, so now it is only being used in one case. --cos1776 14:22, 20 November 2016 (UTC) I think I'm the only one who has used it, since I created mainly to mark the several pages for Mattys Blanchan. I had used it once before but I did enough research to confirm that those pages were really duplicates. I'm assuming most duplicates are a product of the "drive-by gedcom" era, and so maybe this template will be less useful as time goes by. But if not, here it is. --Trentf 02:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC) [add comment] [edit] Good to have [5 November 2024]I think this is a good template to have, to easily make a note of suspected duplicates we run across when we are in the middle of some other research. I'm hoping in the future I can write something that will help us identify more duplicate Person pages (without getting so many hits that it would be impossible to handle). If so, the template would come in handy to identify situations we're not quite sure about. I made some updates, including adding status, which means this template can replace the Merge template. I also removed the "To Do" list because
I kept its recommended placement on the Person or Family page (not the Talk page) because I think it is much more likely to be noticed. However, if it lingers with no confirmation for a long time, it might make sense to move it to the Talk page. Just a thought - I don't plan to update the recommendation. I plan to include this Template in the Help refresh on identifying duplicates. Let me know if you don't agree. Thanks--DataAnalyst 23:16, 5 November 2024 (UTC) |
