Joseph Jenks (1603-1683) married Mary Tervyn (1611-1643), daughter of James and Margery Tervyn, in the parish of All Hallows, London, in 1630. They had one son, born in 1632. He and his son immigrated to New England in 1645. He married 2) Elizabeth ____ (1604-1679), ca. 1650. They had six children, 1652-1663, all born at Lynn, Massachusetts. He died at Lynn. Descendants lived in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and elsewhere.

Later research has revealed that there were two Joseph Jenks in London, one who married Mary Tervyn, and one who immigrated and settled in Lynn. See Colket, Meredith B. The Father of Joseph Jenks of Lynn, in The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, 122 (July 1968):168 and Source:Colket, Meredith B. The Jenks Family of England.
