The website of the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS). (Use this repository for items that have been posted and are searchable on their website. Use the library for hard copy materials.)

NEHGS is busy putting their most popular resources online for access by members. Popular databases include:

• Most pre-1850 Massachusetts vital records
• Massachusetts 1841-1910 vital records
• Arnold's Rhode Island Vital Records
• The New England Historic Genealogical Register (NEHGR) (through 2010)
• The American Genealogist, vol. 9-53
• The Great Migration Begins and Great Migration 1634-35 (plus sketches from additional members are available for a $10 annual membership)
• Cemetery Database (one collection of over 1650 cemeteries in New England, New York and Canada)
• Early American Newspapers 1690-1876
• Abstracts of Wills, Administrations and Guardianships in NY State, 1787 - 1835
• Irish Immigrant Advertisements Placed in The Boston Pilot 1831-1920

A master list can be found [1]. The Society publishes a weekly e-newsletter that includes newly added databases.

All the databases can be accessed through one master search, or searched individually.

The repository requires a login to properly access. A free Guest Membership provides substantial access to online materials. There are several levels of paid Research Memberships (e.g. Individual, Family, 3-month).

New website

The former website of the New England Historic Genealogical Society was located at www.NewEnglandAncestors.org. It was relaunched in 2010, and gradually all of the content has been migrated to the new site. Some old NewEnglandAncestors.org links still work and redirect to the appropriate section or search, but (as of early 2011) many static links are broken.
