Richmond is a parish in the southwest corner of Carleton County in New Brunswick, Canada. The parish was established in 1817 when it was set off from Woodstock Parish and possibly named for Charles Lennox, 4th Duke of Richmond (1764-1819) and governor-in-chief of British North America from 1818-1819; or for Richmond, New York, where a number of local settlers came from. The area of the parish is 259.14 km2 (100.05 sq mi) and the population in 2011 was 1,358, a decrease of 4.0% from 2006. There were 565 dwellings counted. The population density was calculated at 5.2/km2 (13/sq mi). The population was more than 96% English-speaking.
