Newsham is not included in Wikipedia. Co-ordinates are those for Newsham Bridge from Google Earth. GENUKI lists it as being in the township of Butterwick-cum-Newsam as well as being 1-3/4 miles north-northeast of Appleton-le-Street. This approximates with the location of Newsham Bridge.

Prior to the nationwide municipal reorganization of 1974, Newsham was located in Malton Rural District. Historically, it was located in the ecclesiastical parish of Appleton le Street in the Rydale Wapentake.
