Moundsville

Moundsville is an unincorporated place in the southeastern part of the township of Olive, county of Noble, state of Ohio, United States of America. It is situated along Duck Creek, in the southern half of section 36 of township 6, range 9 (1st Congressional Survey).

Moundsville was laid off into twelve lots by Isaac Davis, and the plat was recorded 21 May 1861. The building of the railroad, and the consequent transfer of business to South Olive, effectually blighted its prospects. The first store in the place was started in 1865 by Abraham Young, and in the following year W.P. Warren became his partner. They were succeeded by W.D. Guilbert, who removed to South Olive on the completion of the railroad to that point.
