| The Kingsbridge Rural District was comprised of 25 civil parishes in the southwest of Devon surrounding the Urban District of Kingsbridge. It was in existence from 1894 until 1974 and replaced the earlier Kingsbridge Rural Sanitary District which catered for the area's needs during the latter part of the 19th century. In 1974 the area covered by the rural district became part of the current non-metropolitan South Hams District which also serves Kingsbridge, the urban district of Salcombe, the municipal boroughs of Dartmouth and Totnes, and the former rural districts of Plympton St. Mary and Totnes.
