According to Groome's Gazetteer for Scotland of 1882, Keir was the name of a mansion on the border of Lecropt and Dunblane parishes in Fife, which was the seat of the Stirling (and later Stirling-Maxwell) family. Members of the Stirling family are still resident in the house today.
