Greenstead is a village in the Ongar civil parish of Essex, England, strung out along the Greensted Road approximately one mile to the west of Chipping Ongar.

The parish was part of the Ongar Rural District from 1894 until 1955, the Epping and Ongar Rural District from 1955 to 1965, when it was absorbed into the parish of Ongar. Since 1974 the area is part of the Epping Forest District of Essex.
