The Cowbridge Hundred area is now, for the most part, in Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. Parts of it can also be found in Rhondda Cynon Taf
A Vision of Britain through Time provides the following description of Cowbridge Hundred from John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72:
- "[Cowbridge] hundred has a general identity with the [registration district] sub-district [of Cowbridge]; yet differs in some parts, and is not quite so large. Acres: 32,390. Population: 6,084. Houses: 1,297."
GENUKI provides a map from 'Historic Parishes of England and Wales - Boundaries before 1850' to which the boundaries of the hundreds have been superimposed. Dates are those for earliest parish registers. (Full source notes for the original map on the GENUKI page.)

Research Tips
- GENUKI on Glamorgan Lots of leads to other sources and descriptions of former parishes.
- The FamilySearch Wiki on Glamorgan has recently been updated (early 2016) and looks remarkably like Wikipedia. Their map "Glamorgan Parish Map.jpg" enlarges to show all the original parishes. The sub-section "Parishes of Historic Glamorgan" lists all the parishes of Glamorgan and the newer preserved counties and principal areas in both English and Welsh. (Currently this website is still under construction.)
