Person talk:William Covington (15)

Looking for sources to resolve confusion [24 September 2015]

I'm curious about what sources you have for your William Covington, particularly for his death in Lincoln County, Georgia. I have a William Covington, b. 1753 in Maryland, who died in Lincoln County, Georgia. I'm not totally convinced, however, that the information about his early life, including service in the Revolutionary War, is for the same person who actually died in Lincoln County, Georgia. The connection seems to be based on an early submission to the DAR, and while the DAR has not gotten around to questioning it (yet), there are some inconsistencies that bother me. Do you have anything that would help sort the two out?

Thanks, --GayelKnott 19:34, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

Since there was no reply to the above, I've moved the information about the William Covington who died in Lincoln County, Georgia to this page, where he seems to fit as a descendant of Mary Newbill and possible brother of Ursula -- he is not the William Covington who served in the Revolutionary War in Cheraws, South Carolina and the conflation of the two impedes research efforts to determine what happened to that William Covington. --GayelKnott 03:02, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
