Person talk:Jonathan Bliss (1)

The Wife of Jonathan(2) Bliss [27 January 2012]

Eugene Zubrinsky makes a strong case that Jonathan's wife was not one Miriam Harmon and, further, that such a person never existed. He inclines toward an unknown daughter of George Puffer of Braintree, possibly with the baptismal name Rachel. I've parked the person page for Miriam Harmon here temporarily until someone gets around to fixing it. There was also another person page for Jonathan linking to no wife but to daughter Elizabeth who married James Thurber. I'm going ahead and resolving that duplication.--jaques1724 07:24, 26 January 2012 (EST)

I have fixed the record by merging Miriam with this Jonathan's daughter-in-law Miriam (Carpenter) Bliss (since the death record of the latter had been assigned to "Miriam Harmon"), and merging the marriage. I also added the remaining children to the family (while I had the VR in front of me), hoping that these actions will reduce the likelihood that someone will add the erroneous Miriam Harmon again. --DataAnalyst 20:47, 26 January 2012 (EST)
Thanks!. I'm not completely convinced about the Rachel Puffer scenario, but it's got a much better chance of being right than what we had before.--jaques1724 23:33, 26 January 2012 (EST)
I agree, and have added a note to the source citation on her Person page. I'm sure we'll never know for sure. If someone chose to rename her page to Unknown Puffer, I would not object, as long as the source citation and note (or variation thereof) are kept. If someone were to do this, it would be good to keep Rachel Puffer as an alternate name for searching and duplicate matching purposes. But as far as I am concerned, I am content with leaving her page the way it is.--DataAnalyst 18:40, 28 January 2012 (EST)
