[add comment] [edit] Barron Family Newsletter [15 August 2017]Barron Family Newsletter, Vol.2, No. 2, p. 2-3, may be viewed at any Family History Center. "Ellis Barron of Ireland" by Blanche A. Barron According to First Families in America (Ohio state Library, State Office Building, Columbus Ohio) Ellis and Grace Barron had another son, Ellis Barron Jr. Although other sources place Ellis Sr. immigration around 1640, Ellis Jr. is stated to have been born on 10 Jun 1633 Watertown, Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony. He married on 14 December 1653 to Hannah Hawkins (II), the daughter of Timothy and Hannah (Hammond) Hawkins Sr., born 10 June 1637 at Watertown. They removed to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania shortly after their marriage and gave birth to four children: Ellis III, born 22 Apr 1655; Hannah, born 6 Mar 1659; Elizabeth, born 11 April 1660; and Sarah born 4 November 1662. ... Ellis Barron III married on 26 May 1679 to Mary Sherman. ... Ellis Barron III, son of Ellis Jr. and Hannah Hawkins (II), married Mary Sherman and had issue: John Barron, born Dracut, Middlesex, Massachusetts in 1717. He married Hannah Richardson who begat Lydia Barron born in Dracut on 1 Jan 1734, .... Notes: The 1655 birth of the father is recorded in Watertown, not Lancaster Pennsylvania. There is no proof of John Barron's parentage here, merely an assertion they are his parents, and the birth given as 1717 (one suspects a typo but that is what it says) is inconsistent with his parents marriage in 1679 and his own marriage date (recorded in 1721) and clearly too late to be having even a first child by 1734, not to mention his sixth child. --Jrich 19:02, 15 August 2017 (UTC) |
