Supposedly gives parents as Ellis Barron and Mary Sherman - however, this newsletter has not be reviewed yet [will add more when User:RolandHenryBakerIII gets a copy]. The newsletters claimed to have found evidence of his paternity. Not all birth records show up in published vital records.
[ User:Jrich adds that no birth record having this date has been located by User:Jrich, nor deed or probate that shows his parentage. One deed, Vol. 18, p. 384 shows John Barron of Concord cordwainer buying land in Dracut from Benjamin and Elizabeth Barron on 17 Mar 1715/16. This Benjamin is the son of the above couple, but the deed indicates no relationship, it is a purchase for money, and a John Barron born in 1699/00 would not be of legal age, so unable to own property. TAG, p. 20:138, says of the alleged parents, "The loss of birth records, and the lack of probate for Ellis Barron, have occasioned great difficulty in placing his children". The article, which covers the family, does not list or discuss the possibility that John was his child, showing Mehitable b. abt 1697 as the last one, though it gives the caveat, "likely there were other children who died young" (emphasis added because it seems to indicate they do not believe there were other surviving children). Naming a child Eliseus may offer a clue to his lineage, but none is apparent from records so far investigated, nor appears to be found in major journals.]

  4. Various Town Records.

Browning (above) cites John Barron's residences as Concord 1717-18 then at Dracut 1718-21; other town records (available on Ancestry.com and FamilySearch) show a John Barron back at Groton 1721 (supposedly where he was born) and then at Chelmsford 1741 and back at Groton 1748. It is unknown if he died in Groton but he may also have moved to Lewiston, ME with his dau Lydia or Fairfield, ME with dau Jerusha. As his daughters were very early settlers (Jerusha and her husband Jonathan Emery are thought to be the first to settle Fairfield, ME) there would be no deaths recorded there. A search of town records Lewiston and Fairfield doesn't provide any clues but they probably start too late to record his death if he was there.
