[add comment] [edit] David R. Porter as given name [4 August 2011]Just noticed your page while working on Zahniser (Mercer County, Pennsylvania) pages and was struck by the given name. It seems to run, at least for a time, among one branch of Zahnisers, the earliest example I have is David R. Porter Zahniser, b. 1838, son of David Zahniser and Ann(a) Coulson. Don't know if this is of interest to you or not. Since the Zahniser's are not one of my direct lines, I'm not going to pursue it further.--GayelKnott 11:23, 4 August 2011 (EDT) Hi, I just discovered why your relative and my relative (in my Bloom line) used David R[ittenhouse] Porter when naming a child. Mr. Porter was an early governor of Pennsylvania. For a short biography go to: [1] Regards. --Neal Gardner 12:04, 4 August 2011 (EDT) Thanks. So much for thinking there might be some link! Just shows how important reading history can be.--GayelKnott 12:17, 4 August 2011 (EDT) |
