[add comment] [edit] marriage [3 June 2012]Quoting from brother William's page: Savage says of the immigrant William's brother Daniel: "Bradley... Bradley, DANIEL, New Haven, sw. fidel. 1637, had w. but no ch. d. Dec. 1608 [sic], and his est. went, after the wid.'s portion, to Joshua, Nathan, Stephen, and William Bradlee, and the w. of John Alling, wh. was Ellen Bradlee. William was call. br. and such prob. was the relat. of the other heirs." Cutter has this a little different (Genealogical and Family History of Connecticut, Vol. 2, part 2, p. 1150): "Daniel, born, probably in 1634 [Cutter unaware of the Bingley parish registers], drowned in December, 1653, while attempting to cross the river: he left no children, and the court divided his property between his brothers and sister, giving William a half-share, because he was only a half-brother." First point: Cutter makes no indication there was a widow. Second point: This is not the man who married Mary Williams and had children, as his estate would not have gone to his siblings, if he had children. Third point: It is important to determine the date of death. If 1653 is correct, this Daniel Bradley was not of marrying age, being only 17. Further, he was not old enough to own property nor to have his property distributed. Therefore 1653 is probably wrong, and it might be 1658 given Savage's erroneous date. --Jrich 23:26, 3 June 2012 (EDT)
