Person talk:Abigail Wetmore (1)

The Parents of Abigail Wetmore [24 May 2013]

I believe there is some confusion about which Abigail Wetmore married Josiah Hubbard. I have just uploaded my gedcom of the descendants of Joseph Wetmore, Sr. During the course of this it indicated a match with an existing couple. I struggled with this for a while and search Barbour, Abigail the dau of Joseph and Abigail the dau of Jeremiah were fairly close in age (Jeremiah's daughter five years older) and only one Abigail Wetmore is shown marrying Josiah Hubbard.

Then I recalled that I had a deed showing that Joseph had given his daughter some land in the Middlefield part of Middletown (they later sold it back to him) and also she was a beneficiary under his will, and as they both signed off on some stuff on that, I think it is clear that Joseph's Abigail is the one Josiah married.

When they sold the land back to Joseph for 70 pounds on 6 Nov. 1759, Josiah refers to "our honored father Joseph Wetmore of Middletown" and the deed is signed by both Josiah Hubbard and Abigail Hubbard (by mark)

So some time over the next few days I will change Abigail's parents to Joseph Wetmore and Lydia Bacon (assuming I can figure out how to do that!). I thought I had done it in the upload, but it is better this way, because I have a chance to explain why I'm making the change.

I hope the descendants of Josiah and Abigail Hubbard aren't too disappointed. It's the Izrahiah line that has all the important folks, but Joseph was a good guy too.

I cannot figure out how to eliminate Jeremiah Wetmore and Abigail Butler as the parents of this Abigail Wetmore. The Abigail that is their daughter was born 18 Sep 1729. If you know how to do this Neal, please do. Otherwise I'll get someone to help me with it. Hal --HBWhitmore 17:56, 11 June 2013 (EDT) I'll be glad to oblige.--Neal Gardner 22:18, 11 June 2013 (EDT) I hope you meant that the correct parents are Joseph Wetmore JR & Abigail Roberts, as Joseph SR w(Lydia Bacon)was dead by 1717.

For future, I went to each family page and REMOVED each Abigail, then retrieved (by adding child and grabbing from the ensuing list)the proper Abigail m to Josiah Hubbard to Joseph Jr, then retrieved the "other Abigail" Wetmore to Jeremiah Wetmore and changed her birthdate. You may want to check the References for "other Abigail" to see if they still apply.

Yep, that got it just right. I'll remember this for the future, as it is bound to happen again at some point.--HBWhitmore 23:40, 11 June 2013 (EDT)
