York Davis: Biographical Information

York Davis was the father of Lula Davis, who married Ezekiel Bennett. Ezekiel was the son of Adam Bennett, the enslaved overseer at Magnolia Plantation on the Ashley River in Charleston, South Carolina.

We do not yet know the name of York's first wife, who was Lula's mother.

On the 1910 Census, York is married to Hester who has 3 children named Florence, William and Charles Sheppard. Hester's children are approximately the same ages as Lula and her brother Samuel. Their household members were:
