Winifred Ann Winters was born on 20th February 1776 and baptised a couple of months later at Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire. She was the daughter of Ann Winters, formerly Rickard, and her husband John Winters. The family appears to have been from the nearby village of Nettleden rather than Berkhamsted, and they returned to Nettleden after her baptism. Sadly Winifred died as a child of just four years old, being buried at Nettleden on 24th October 1780.
