"William Zimmerman, aged 72 years, Jackson township farmer died Tuesdayevening at 5:30 o'clock. He was born in Knox county, April 17, 1844. Hewas married August 23, 1868 to Sarah Nederhouser, who survives him. Foursons and a daughter also survive. Mr Zimmerman was a veteran of theCivil War. He served in the 186th regiment."

Notes on the 186th: This regiment was organized at Camp Chase in Feb.,1865, to serve for one year. It left there on March 2 for Nashville,Tenn., and on the 8th left Nashville for Murfreesboro, arriving on the10th. The destination of the regiment was Cleveland, Tenn., where itwent into camp. On May 2 it moved to Dalton, where it remained but a fewdays, moving from this place to Chattanooga. On July 20 the regiment wasrelieved from duty at Chattanooga and ordered to Nashville. It wasmustered out on Sept. 18, 1865, in accordance with orders from the wardepartment.
