Name William Wright,, Jr.
Gender Male
Birth? 27 Mar 1757 Virginia
Marriage to Mary Ayers
Death? 1821 Clarke, Georgia

1995: William Wright Jr was a minister of Methodism; the Pentecostal sect of the times coming from John Wesley in England. We do not know where he was born, our information states that he came to Clarke Co Ga between 1803 & 1807. He was married at the age of 22 to Mary who was 18; we do not know her parents names or where she was born. They had 11 children according to their Bible record & the research sheet rec'd from Karen Graves; Martha is not listed in the Bible record. According to the Bible record & Marriage Book A page 185 Clarke Co, he performed the wedding of his 19 year old daughter Sarah & her 46 year old suitor Thomas B Wozencraft in Dec. of 1812. In his probate record of 1821 he leaves 1.00 each to his daughters Mary, Elizabeth, Martha & Charity; slaves to his grandchildren from Charity, 1.00 to son William, & his wife as guardian over his sons Thomas A & John Carr. From this we might infer that he had property (slaves) but no money or that he hung on to his money. It seems that owning slaves did not conflict with his religion. His wife was 60 at the time of his death, Thomas A was 20 & John Carr was 18.
