    John G Hunt, Clues as to the origin of the Steere, Wickenden and Balcombe Families of Providence, Rhode Island TAG 37:139-40 Deposed he was from Oxfordshire but TAG 37:140 suggests that possibly he was from Oxford, Kent, England. Cowden, Kent, England here florished the name Wickenden just 15 miles east of Ockley, Surrey where the Steeres came from.
