WILLIAM WATKINS was born in 1740 at Wales/England. He married RACHEL
MULLEN in 1768 at Baltimore County, Maryland. They had 12 children, 9 boys and 3 girls. Boys Charles and Caleb are not mentioned in their fathers will, so it is likely that they died young.
He enlisted in the 3rd
Regiment of the Maryland Line 1/1/1777 for 2 years. He enlisted the 2nd
time 1/1/1783 to Nov. 1783. He was probably in the battle of Germantown,
Monmouth, Edge Hill, White Plains, and Eutah Springs. He was with General
Washington at Valley Forge.
He appeared on the census of 1790 at Baltimore
County, Maryland. William moved from Maryland to Mason County Kentucky.
He probably moved sometime between 1791 and 1794. He is in Maryland in the
1790 census and his youngest child Daniel was born in Kentucky in 1795. He
sold his land in Kentucky in 1800.

He appeared on the census of 25 Aug 1800 at Mason County, Kentucky.
In 1810
records have William living in Washington township in Montgomery countyS6.
In 1820 his sons Daniel and Abbot are still there, but William has now
moved one county north to Washington township in Miami county. His son
Joshua and daughter Amy are with him in Miami countyS4. He appeared on the
census of 1810 at Montgomery County, Ohio. He appeared on the census of
1820 at Washington Township, Miami County, Ohio.
He died on 30 Oct
1821 at Montgomery County, Ohio.
