William Walby was baptised on 12th November 1682 at Aston in Hertfordshire, son of Sarah Walby, formerly Skeg, and her husband George Walby. When William was eleven years old his father died.

William was married on 16th April 1718 at Shoreditch in the suburbs of London. After their marriage they moved back to Hertfordshire, settling in the small town of Hatfield, where they had three children baptised between 1720 and 1723, and William worked as a butcher.

Back in Aston, William's mother died in 1726. She left her house to William.

Mary died in 1751. William's daughter (another Mary) died as a young woman in 1757.

William died at the age of 77, being buried at Hatfield on 25th January 1760.
