Leeds, abt. 1751 Headingley, bd. there 1807, md. 1781 Mary Blanchard of Cavill Hall. Howden. Son of Samuel Waddington 1739 of Lightcliffe, nr. Halifax, and Headingley, nr. Leeds. Had issue 6 sons---Robert W., b. 1782, md. 1807, went to Virginia, USA; Samuel W., Abt. 1787 Headingley, bd. there 1795; William W. (1), abt. 1789 Headingley, bd. there 1794; John W., abt. 1791 Headingley, bd. 1868 Sharow, Ripon, md. 1818; Joshua W., b. 1792, bt. 1793 Headingley, d. 1877 Valparaiso, Chile, South America, md. 1815, and William W., (2) abt. 1795 Headingley. Descended from Richard de Wadyngton 1388 of Coley, Halifax. From Leeds Intelligencer---Monday 26th Jan. 1807 "on Wednesday morning Mr. Waddington of Wither left home on business purposing to return to dinner. On Thursday his horse returned and search being made Mr. Waddington was found dead in his own barn. It is supposed he had an apoplectic fit." |
