    George William Strother was in the WAR 1812: He was appointed to the 18th Infantry, 12 Mar 1812 and resigned 15 Apr 1814. Applications for letters of administrations were made to the Ordinary of Fairfield District on 28 Apr 1834 by son, John Dargan Strother. This was granted 5 May 1839

    General William Strother married Sallie Woodward, eldest daughter of John Woodward, Sr.
    He was a respected gentleman. Was nominated for US Congress in 1821 to oppose Starling Tucker (a long-established political figure). Died about 1830.
