Facts and Events
1865+ From Ian Stoyle (Dec 2000): "BUT I have now made a fresh discovery - or, more accurately, re-discovered an old discovery. Look at the Milford tree on p.65 of the book and you will see what happened to Samuel Stoneman's widow, Sarah. Sometime, somewhere, she married one of the Thomas Milfords, though a humble labouring TM rather than a prosperous wheelwright TM. Her gravestone is in the churchyard (and, would you believe it?, must be one of those on the left of the photo on p.41, close to the trees). She's buried beside, or very close to, her son, William Stoneman (1847-1908), and March 1st 1907 was the date of her death. Yes, look at the photo on p.41 and the five rows of stones on the extreme left. The middle row has two similar tall stones and a dark stubby one in between. These are, from left to right, those of William S (d.1908; 61), his wife Mary Ann (d.1889; 38) & his daughter Alice Mary (d.1895; 21); his daughters Rhoda Ann (d.1872; 9m) & Sarah Ann (d.1878; 1); his mother Sarah Milford (d.1907; 84) & her husband Thomas Milford (d.1909; 80+.)
