Mary BUCHANAN probably married William STIRLING (1717-1777) 20sep1747 at Glasgow (Latter day saints). William Stirling (28jul1717-1777) married Mary Buchanan of Drumpellier (d. 25 dec 1806). William Stirling, christened 29jul1717, died 1777, feued Cordale in the Vale of Leven and founded the well known dyeing business. He married Mary Buchanan of Drumpelier ("Provosts of Glasgow" by James R. Anderson). William died 3may1777 (W. Davidson website). From „Matriculation Albums of University of Glasgow from 1728 to 1858”, published 1913: 174 (matriculated 1730) Gulielmus Stirling F. Joannis Stirling Mercatoris Glasguensis Viri Consularis. Born 1717. Founder of the still existing calico printing firm of William Stirling and Sons. Died Glasgow 3may1777. Cousin of 564, father of 2559, 2560, father in law of 2959. References
