[edit] Migration PatternWilliam Standing immigrated to America in 1841, sailing from Liverpool to New Orleans. His parents and siblings made the voyage together. He was blessed on 4 Jun 1845 in Nauvoo, Hancock County, Illinois by elders of the Mormon church. By 1847, William was living in St. Louis, Missouri and was "made Bishop of St. Louis 3rd Ward" on 25 Mar 1847. Later he and his family moved to southern Illinois, where he spent the rest of his life.
